CRG joins forces with the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation

The Country Range Group (CRG) has embarked on a three-year collaboration with The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation to facilitate the advancement of its philanthropic goals, including the Natasha Clinical Trial. This partnership marks CRG as the inaugural foodservice purchasing collective to affiliate with the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation.

This unique alliance will entail the wholesale group and its members collaborating with the charity to raise awareness, enhance comprehension, and, most importantly, secure vital funds in the pursuit of eliminating food allergies. Notably, the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation stands as the sole charity in the UK exclusively devoted to scientific and medical research on allergies.

The Natasha Clinical Trial concentrates on children and young individuals suffering with milk and peanut allergies in a groundbreaking £2.5 million oral immunotherapy investigation. The study strives to bridge the current gap in Oral Immunotherapy (OIT) research by demonstrating that everyday food items can serve as a practical treatment, obviating the need for costly pharmaceutical drugs. If successful, this trial has the potential to revolutionise treatments, benefiting hundreds of thousands of allergy sufferers at a fraction of the current NHS expenditure.

In addition to being designated as CRG's annual charity for the upcoming three years, this partnership will also confer editorial participation in the leading trade magazine, Stir it up, to The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, all while contributing to bolstering employee engagement throughout their entire workforce.

Nadim Ednan-Laperouse OBE, Co-founder and Trustee of The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, will also be in attendance at the Country Range Group's 10th anniversary 'An Evening With' annual celebration, taking place this year at Abbey Road Studios on 14th December.

The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation was established in June 2019 following the tragic loss of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse, who succumbed to anaphylactic shock after consuming a baguette containing undisclosed sesame seeds. A legal loophole exempted prepackaged foods prepared and sold on the same premises from ingredient listing. The charity aspires to eradicate allergic diseases, prevent food allergy-related fatalities, and drive positive change through a focus on legal and policy reforms, medical research, and allergy awareness education.

Martin Ward, chief executive of the Country Range Group, commented:

“We’re proud to be entering into a partnership with The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation and are committed in their aims to help make food allergens a thing of the past.

Although some important policies have been introduced since Natasha’s tragic death, there’s still so much more that can be done to prevent and eradicate allergic disease.

We hope that this far-reaching partnership will bring about positive change and offer hope to those living with allergies.”

Nadim Ednan-Laperouse OBE, Co-Founder & Trustee of The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, added:

“We’re delighted to welcome the Country Range Group to Natasha’s Foundation and are overwhelmed by their generosity to name us as their chosen charity for the next three years.

Our vision is to make allergy history, something we wouldn’t be able to do without the support of companies like the Country Range Group.

Their knowledge, expertise and reputation in the foodservice sector is second to none so we’re thrilled we’re able to partner with them and their incredible independent members on our groundbreaking work.”
